Ousseni Illy is Assistant Professor of Law at the Université Ouaga II, Burkina Faso and a 2010-12 GEG Global Leaders Fellow. He is also co-founder and executive director of the African Centre of International Trade and Development, an independent non-profit think tank on Africa and international trade based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. 

Dr Illy holds a PhD in International Trade Law from the University of Geneva and a Master in Public Law from the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He was research assistant for Professor Gabrielle Marceau at Geneva University and for the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Previously, he was a consultant for the UN (Legal Affairs, Codification Division) and a PhD visiting researcher at the WTO Secretariat, Geneva. Ousseni speaks French, English, Moré and Dioula.
