Global Leaders Fellow Camila Villard Duran was invited to be part of the “International Monetary Fund (IMF) Academic Fellowship Program” at the 2016 annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington D.C. (October 1-8, 2016). She was one of only 10 academic members chosen globally, and was selected based on her work and research related to the Fund’s issues. Members came from Brazil, El Salvador, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Côte d’Ivoire, Angola, Myanmar and Indonesia. 

Camila had the opportunity to interact with IMF and World Bank staff members, along with policy makers from around the world. She participated in meetings at the IMF with Mr. David Lipton, First Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Maurice Obstfeld, Research Department Director, and Mr. Alexandre Tombini, Executive Director. At the World Bank, she met with Mr. Otaviano Canuto, Executive Director.

The Academic Fellowship Program is supporting Camila in improving her research and helping her to expand her academic and policy networks. She had also the opportunity to interact with civil society organizations represented at the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.
