Country representatives and legal experts from all over the world met in Vienna from 3-21 July 2017 to talk about Modernizing International Trade Law to Support Innovation and Sustainable Development at the 50th Anniversary Session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

UNCITRAL is a legal expert body of the UN which specializes in reforming legislation at a global level. The reform of the investment framework was discussed during the session. GLF Maria Gwynn’s work “UNCITRAL and the possibility of Returning to the Multilateral Regulation of Foreign Investments” was included in the session that dealt with the topic of ‘Reform of investor-state dispute settlement’. Dr. Gwynn’s paper will be published in a Special Issue that includes the proceedings of the congress, with a pre-print available here.
